With the advantage of high-efficient, energy-saving and friendly-environment, more and more place use LED lights. And the food processing industry also propose use LED lights. Now, I will analyze how to choose the right LED high bay lights for food processing industry from two hands: application characteristics and special requirements on fixtures.
Food Processing Plants including: poultry and meat processing, poultry and meat packing plants, slaughterhouse, food packaging & paper plants, bread factory etc.
These working plants require very clean and tidy environment, and always need to flush the floor, table even the lamps, so these lighting fixture must be able to withstand the washing of high-pressure water gun, and the fixtures’ protection grade must be up to IP67. When the high-pressure water gun is rinsed, no parts of the lamp should fall off to avoid falling into food or processing machine. Therefore, the lamp should use screws as little as possible even no screws, no fragile components.
Some cooked food plants, such as bread factories, produce hot steam, so the LED high bay lights must be able to withstand the impact of hot steam and up to IP69K protection grade.
Some food needs to be stored in the cold storage, the temperature reaches to -40℃ in storage.
So the fixture also need to withstand this hush temperature.
In order to provide a clear and comfortable illumination working environment, we must take the lamps illuminance, CRI and CCT into consideration. The luminance selection, you can judge the lamp’s lumen. Food procession area usually choose Ra70 or 80Ra according to different requirements. The lamps is better with no flickering and low glare (low UGR).
To sum up，the LED high bay light for food processing should be with smooth body to prevent the accumulation of dust and makes cleaning the fixture easy. A poly carbonate lens prevents yellowing or cracking over time, IP67 waterproof and IP69K resistant steam, working under -40℃ hush temperature. Considering energy saving, it’s better to choose high light efficient LED high bay with more than Ra70 CRI and no flickering, no glare.
The perfect temperature and humidity for your plants are found between 75-85 °F and 50%-70% humidity，with plenty of airflow to replenish CO2. PH is 6-6.5. You may add more calcium and magnesium than normally needed.
